Money Matters

Very rarely do I have the extra money to go out and buy things I like.  I've been very frugal this past year with increased student loans (thank you grad school), a mortgage (which thankfully my loving fiance takes care of most of the time), miscellaneous household expenses and bills.  I'm very meticulous about paying off the balances on my credit cards.  I have too many that I shouldn't have, cmon some do give me great deals and coupons and extra 5% off with purchases (Thank you Target and Lowes when I have a big order).  Thankfully they are all paid off minus my one through the bank which has had a balance on since March when we had to have a dilapidating shed demolished that was on our property that FHA somehow looked over (that is another story).  I clip coupons, buy in bulk, frequent Aldis and save where I can.  Unfortunately, my career choice doesn't always pay the bills and I'm left paycheck to paycheck trying to put money away when I can since we have this wedding coming up and all haha.

Any who, I usually don't splurge on things but sometimes a little coffee (or chai) and retail therapy is needed for the soul!  I got out of work a little early and figured I'd been saying I would stop at Caribou Coffee which is not far away but definitely out of the way.  I got there and picked up an Iced Pumpkin Chai Tea (yummy!) and went to Bath and Body Works got some fall scented candles I have sweet cinnamon pumpkin lit now mmm fall! As I was getting ready to leave I saw Pier 1. I love Pier 1 it has such unique things but a little pricey. I figured I would just go in and look and if I did find something I had a gift card.  Needless to say I no longer have a gift card (that was supposed to go towards my much wanted papasan chair), but I did snag some great deals all on clearance!
Two candle trays, seaglass (two bags since I have been searching for it and it was on clearance - SCORE) 4 stemmed flowers we'll deconstruct and use for the boutonnieres and this awesome serving tier
and a few other gifts for others I won't mention or show.  I almost gave in and bought a very unique blue sparkled tray from Italy but really had no use for it besides the fact I thought it was pretty!  I took a picture of this because it is so true!
It just goes to show that you can find things that you want even without breaking the bank.  Well okay, I didn't have much left in the good ol bank account til payday so it went on the credit card.  Ugh I need to stop, but I felt better after my day.
